1960’s Vintage Wedding
A “Roman Holiday” inspired, 1960’s styled wedding in Bologna
From the very first meeting with L&R two things were clear: 1) the location was going to be Bologna 2) the theme was going to be 1960s vintage wedding. The inspiration for the whole day came from an old cult movie, Roman Holiday and the result was absolute fabulosity and retro chicness!
The big day started with a simple Italian Civil Wedding ceremony in the opulent Sala Rossa of the city Town Hall overlooking the main square. After the ceremony, the newlyweds set off to a photoshoot through the streets of Bologna.
Subsequently, L&R arrived at the venue, in a vintage Fiat 500. The celebration started with a relaxed picnic on the lawn, where we set up colourful throws and hung bud vases from the trees. And, to make things more fun, we organised all sorts of outdoor games, including giant Pass the Pigs!
For the outdoor dinner reception, we wanted guests to feel like they stepped into an old movie. A long table with colourful runners, in clashing geometric patterns, and vintage bud vases with bright coloured flowers. To finish, we set up festoon lighting and hanging paper decorations.
After dinner, guests let loose dancing in the beautiful garden until the early hours. Meanwhile, the outdoor cinema under the old oak tree played a collage of the couple’s favourite movies. To accompany the bride and groom during their first dance were Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday dancing on the screen behind them!
We loved many things about this wedding. First of all the bride and groom, two creative and adventurous souls. And then all the little touches that made this wedding unforgettable. To find out more about this wedding go to our blog post Love My Dress – Wedding Feature
