Italian Castle Wedding
A regal wedding in an ancient castle
M&S special day started with a beautiful Catholic Wedding ceremony in a small church in the heart of Bologna. Following the ceremony, the big wedding reception took place in a fabulous Renaissance Court, just outside of the city centre. With its magnificent frescoed halls and spectacular courtyard, this was the perfect venue for a fabulous Italian castle wedding.
Here, the newlyweds welcomed their guests to the cocktail reception in the verdant park in front of the castle. Guests then made their way inside the palace and we suddenly opened the drapes to reveal a fabulous candlelit dinner in the castle’s courtyard. Long tables, elegant chairs, greenery garlands and over 200 candles!
Since the hexagon shape beared a special meaning for the couple, we decided to give a modern twist to the traditional Italian castle wedding theme. From table plan to place cards, table numbers and candleholders, everything was gold and hexagon shaped. As a backdrop, we installed a long wall of hanging gold hexagons and fairy lights.
According to tradition, the couple made their grand entrance into the courtyard to the sound of loud music. They danced among the tables while their guests cheered and waved their napkins in the air. What a wonderful way to start a wedding dinner! A four-course sit down dinner ensued, featuring delicious food, wine, laughter and joy.
After dessert, the couple made their toast from a Juliette balcony overlooking the courtyard. Like in a fairy tale, the newlyweds dressed as king and queen and invited their guests to join them on the dancefloor in the castle’s ballroom. Here everything was ready for a buzzing late night party which lasted until the early hours of the morning. Open bar, dessert tables, photo booth and of course delicious midnight pizza.
