Italian Villa Wedding
A fabulous summer wedding overlooking Bologna
K&R dream was to have a real Italian villa wedding in Bologna, a beautiful town, buzzing with life and famous all over Italy for its amazing food, its red buildings and its university. As we always say, for the perfect wedding you need the perfect venue. In fact, from the moment K&R stepped onto the panoramic terrace of this hilltop villa, they knew they found their venue.
The day before the wedding they tied the knot in the majestic Sala Rossa of the local Town Hall. This was an intimate celebration among close family and friends. The following day, everything was ready to do it all over again Only this time with a symbolic ceremony on the panoramic terrace of the villa. Here the bride and groom exchanged their vows while a tenor sang Nessun Dorma.
Guests then joined the cocktail reception on the upper terrace. The newlyweds took off for the couple shoot in the olive grove to capture beautiful pictures of their Italian villa wedding. K&R then joined the cocktail reception, where, in perfect Italian style, rather than a wedding cake, they cut a Parmesan wheel.
Now it was time to welcome guests for dinner. K&R asked us to entirely redecorate the interior of the marquee. It took us a few months to design and two days to set up, but it was worthet. To create a magical atmosphere, we draped white fabric from the ceiling and hanged greenery garlands and fairy lights. So when the newlyweds entered the marquee they were blown away.
K&R envisioned a relaxed modern feel. In order to do that, our materials of choice were glass and steel. Our colour palette included different shades of pink, dark green, white and grey. Pink peonies for the table centrepieces, glass charger plates and crystal candle holders, grey taper candles and stationery. Everything blended together beautifully.
After dinner, guests let loose on the dance floor to the sound of a swing band. The bar served delicious cocktails and the dessert table featured small patisserie and sorbets. The pink villa’s facade as a backdrop, the sparkling lights of Bologna below and a thousand fairy lights in apothecary jars. It truly was a magical way to end a dream Italian villa wedding!
